YAZMÍN CONEJO
Spanish Programs Coordinator and Professor
Yazmín was born in México City where she lived half of her life before she moved to Mérida. She has an undergraduate degree in Latin American Literature and a Master’s Degree in Memory and History from Universidad de La Plata in Argentina. Her "Literature and Dictatorships in The Southern Cone" research gave her the chance to live in different South American countries where she discovered new cultures, places, and people who helped her to begin eliminating geographical borders and think of herself as part of a Latin American diaspora. Her itinerant life, full of changes and constant learning, brought her back to Mérida where she has joined the Habla team in the Spanish Immersion Program. The connection she has with her students using literature and journeys, as well as her passion for teaching, creates a magical classroom environment, making knowledge and learning a two-way path.
