Travesías incorporates culture, the arts, stories, and grammar into our online Spanish classes. We move through a clear structure, helping students advance to a new Spanish level at a comfortable pace.

Language levels in Travesías are represented by stages. Each stage has its own thematic sessions and grammar modules, which help students learn Spanish online through storytelling and cultural exploration.

The Novice Stage in our online Spanish class is designed for language learners with little or no previous knowledge of Spanish. Here, students will become comfortable with the language and develop the vocabulary and sentence structure necessary to talk about their life and community. Students will learn the present tense, present progressive tense, and future tense with ir.

The Novice High Stage is designed for students with previous knowledge of present tense and basic Spanish expressions. At this level of our online Spanish course, students will broaden their understanding of the Spanish-speaking world. Students will also improve their language skills by talking about social topics and stories in the past tense. Students will learn past tenses (preterite and imperfect) and perfect tense.

The Intermediate Stage is built for students with previous knowledge of the Spanish present and past tenses. Here, students will practice complex conversations about contemporary topics in Mexico and Latin America. By the end of this online Spanish class, students will be able to interact confidently with native speakers in social and academic contexts. Students will learn the future tense, conditional tense, and imperative tense.

The Intermediate High Stage is for students who have taken intermediate Spanish courses and are ready to progress towards fluency. In this virtual Spanish class, language learners will further develop their Spanish skills by reading about historical and current events through literature, the arts, and cultural expressions of Mexico and Latin America. By the end of this online Spanish course, students will be able to use language effectively in social, academic, and professional settings. Students will work on the subjunctive tense.

The last stage of Travesías is designed for students with a high level of Spanish proficiency who are moving towards a native speaker’s level of fluency. In this online Spanish class, students will expand their Spanish vocabulary and work through more complex grammar structures to read texts in multiple genres, engage in academic class discussions, and write essays in response to readings.
